Join The Future Actuary Editorial Board!
This year, The Future Actuary is seeking one student representative, a junior, to serve a two-year term on The Future Actuary editorial board.
If you:
· Have strong communication skills
· Can contribute to the publication by offering story suggestions
· Can offer ideas for improvements in the newsletter
· Can provide a student's perspective
…then you may be the next student representative to The Future Actuary.
Here are the details:
Responsibilities include attending one editorial board meeting each summer in the Chicagoland area. The junior representative will attend three meetings, through July 2008. These board meetings are used to elicit story ideas for the coming year and to plan our publishing activities. Travel expenses for these trips will be reimbursed by the Society of Actuaries for student representatives who are full-time college/university students and not employed in an actuarial capacity. Though no writing or editing is required of student representatives, they are more than welcome to submit material for publication during their terms.
Requirements:
· Nominees must be students who will graduate in the calendar year 2008
· Nominees must include a resume in their application materials
· Nominees must have one written recommendation from an actuarial teacher or employer

· Nominees must be planning a career in actuarial science
· Nominees have preferably completed an internship or are about to participate in one
· Junior nominees must agree to serve a two-year term
· Nominees must demonstrate that they have participated in student activities
· Junior nominees must agree to attend the annual editorial board meeting in the summer of 2006, 2007 and 2008. The SOA will reimburse travel costs for all student representatives who are not employed in an actuarial capacity.
